The
Arlington International
Airgun Club (AIAC) is located in Chicago’s northwest suburb
of Arlington Heights, Illinois. AIAC’s goal is to promote
Olympic-style air pistol and air rifle shooting. The club is affiliated
with the National Rifle Association (NRA), the Civilian Marksmanship
Program (CMP), USA Shooting (U.S. Olympic governing body), and the
Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA).
AIAC began operation in September of 2001 with the construction of the
five (5) firing point 10-meter (10M) airgun range at Christian Liberty
Academy
(CLA) of Arlington Heights, Illinois. CLA is a strong believer in
American Freedom and supporter of the shooting sports, and furnished a
permanent location for the club’s range and meeting area. The
club’s adult 10M range conforms to all International Shooting
Sports Federation (ISSF) specifications for target height and distance,
and features individual target lighting that conforms to ISSF
specifications for range illumination.
Even though the AIAC range is designed for airgun use only, proper gun
safety is always required. The range facility operates with similar
safety rules and procedures as a competition firearms range. Airguns
are required to be cased and uncased on the shooting tables only
– no guns are allowed to be handled behind the firing-line.
Airguns are also required to be kept pointed down-range at all times,
with actions open when not in use. Only .177 caliber target velocity
airguns are allowed. Eye protection is required and ear protection is
recommended. The club meets on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings
at Christian Liberty Academy, 502 W. Euclid Avenue in Arlington
Heights, Illinois.
